PENGARUH KEBERSIHAN GIGI DAN MULUT TERHADAP PH SALIVA DIPANTI SOSIAL ASUHAN ANAK PUTRA UTAMA 2 JAKARTA UTARA

Oral and dental health is an essential part of overall body health that cannot
be separated. Children in orphanages have limited access to information and dental
care, which can affect their saliva pH. An imbalance in saliva pH increases the risk
of oral health problems such as dental caries and periodontal diseases. Research
purposes: This study aims to determine the effect of oral hygiene on saliva pH
among residents of Panti Sosial Asuhan Anak Putra Utama 2 in North Jakarta.
Research method: This study uses a quantitative design with a cross-sectional
approach. A total of 30 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data
were collected through oral hygiene examinations using the OHI-S index and saliva
pH measurements using a pH meter. The data were analyzed using the Chi-Square
statistical test. Research Results: The study found that the majority of respondents
had moderate oral hygiene (63.33%) and an alkaline saliva pH (83.33%). However,
Chi-Square analysis showed no significant relationship between oral hygiene and
saliva pH (p-value = 0.671). Conclusion: Although most respondents had an
alkaline saliva pH, no significant relationship was found between oral hygiene and
saliva pH. Other factors, such as diet, hydration, and general health conditions, may
also contribute to saliva pH balance.
